Our Christmas Morning

This past weekend my cousins Josh and Jennifer Smith came over for a visit.  It was great to see them, don't get to very often.

This past weekend we were also ding dong ditched.  On our front porch was a large box filled with presents.  While we wouldn't let Wyler dive into the presents until Christmas morning I let him dive into the box with a handful of crayons.  He colored, and played in the box for hours over the past week.

Sunday morning I caught James trying to get to the Christmas tree...

So I plugged in the lights and got one of the best reactions ever!

Some of the scouts in our ward made toddler size chairs for several families.  We were the lucky recipients of one.

On Christmas Eve we met Grandmama Darla and Great-Grandma Marilyn for lunch at Denny's.  They boys kept us very entertained and busy.  James begged and begged for food, while Wyler just wanted to be a chemist and mix anything and everything he could.

After lunch someone in our ward decided to bless us with all the fixings for a good Christmas dinner.

Last night Papa Theron and Grandmama Darla came over, and we each opened a gift.  (Well, everyone but James.  He was in bed already.)  Zach got window washing supplies (from the ding dong ditcher) and I got a bath supply gift basket.  Wyler got a bunch of monster trucks.  After the gifts were opened I put Wyler in bed.  Fast forward about an hour, maybe an hour and a half and I realize there is light coming from under Wyler's door.  He managed to turn the light on, and climbed into the crib with his new cars and was quietly playing.  He was not too pleased that he was caught out of bed.  I just chuckled and put him back in bed with one of his cars.

This morning Papa and Grandmama, and Grandma Marilyn came back over and we dove into our presents

It took most of the day for James to be interested in the toys and not just boxes, bags, and paper.

Wyler has spent the whole day playing with his tool set.  But he doesn't call each tool by their proper name.  Nope, he uses the names of the characters from his favorite tv show Handy Manny.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays everyone!  We started off our holiday season with Uncle Brigham, and Papa Theron's birthdays the week before Thanksgiving.  We had a nice birthday dinner and some cake for Papa Theron.

They boys sure love their Papa Theron

James has started to pull him self up on anything and every thing.  Nothing within three feet to the ground is safe from him any more.

We went to the Richins Grandies for Thanksgiving.  It was a fun visit.  Wyler refused to eat much, there were way to many cool toys to play with.  And James loved being able to sample all sorts of food.

Then the Saturday after Thanksgiving we went with my parents up near Silver City and cut our Christmas tree.  It was cold, but a fun trip.

Shortly before the little guy added a handful of dirt to my hot chocolate.
It actually took me a couple days to get the house decorated.  Trying to clean and decorate, and keep a toddler and baby out of the decoration boxes was interesting to say the least.

Zach and I got to help one of his coworkers decorate Santa's Favorite Deere for the Light Parade the first Saturday of December.  It was a lot of fun.  Wyler thought all the lights at the parade were pretty awesome, that is until the firetrucks came.  This boy loves firetrucks and their sirens, but only from a distance.  Even if the truck is turned off he doesn't want to go any where near it.  James was fascinated by all the lights, but he didn't seem too interested.  But that could be because it was bed time too.

They made it so the sleigh could move up and down as if it was flying.

The other day I walked into the boys room and found this..

"Hi mom!  I'm being good, nothing in the toy box..."

Nothing in there huh?

"Nope, nuthin!"

I turned the water on and put Wyler in the bath tub.  Next thing I know James is speeding in to play in the water too.  My boys love the water.

I had my annual Christmas Cookie Exchange last Saturday.  It was a lot of fun visiting with friends, playing with jewelry, and eating cookies.  Afterwards Zach, Wyler, James, a friend and I were all in the garage talking.  Wyler headed back into the house, leaving the door open so I could hear him.  A few minutes later I realized it had been way too quiet for way too long.  I walked in to find that Wyler had picked all the m&m's from two of the cookies, eaten most of the frosting on one of the sugar cookies, and was working on the frosting of the other one.  The look on his face when he saw he had been caught red handed (literally) was priceless.  I wish I had got that look on camera.

Then yesterday about 30 minutes before our play date was to start our tree decided to come down.  So I was finishing cleaning it up when friends started to come over.

I pulled out frosting, our friends brought sugar cookies, sprinkles, and m&m's and we had a sugary good time.

By the time I went to bed last night the tree had been properly righted, and redecorated (and all the breakable ornaments removed).  I worked in my Christmas workshop (more about that after Christmas, don't want to spoil the fun) and got a lot done there.  It has been a good start to the holiday season.

Whew that was quite the post!  And there will be another long one filled with pictures after Christmas!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

I love my family!

Within the last week or so James has gone from needing to be propped up while sitting, to being able to sit unsupported, to going from laying down to sitting with out help.  He has also finally figure out how to move forwards!  No more spinning in circles and backing up.  He is 7 months now, and loves to eat.  It doesn't matter if it is a mush baby food, or chewing on an apple.  He wants to try anything and everything.  He gets really mad if you don't let him try what ever you are eating.  So just a note, don't stand between him and his food.  Especially if he continues to be a big boy as he grows.  He'll just sit on you and eat your food, and you won't be able to do anything about it...

Mmmmm.... yay for Mum Mums from Grandmama Hansen!
Grandmama Darla sure pics out cute clothes!

Wyler is loving life, full of energy, wants to help sooo bad, and is such a happy boy.  He knows 20 letters (uppercase letters), and will watch and listen very closely to expand his vocabulary.  Beware what you say and do in front of him, for he will try to copy you.  His favorite toys are his cars and horses.  He is obsessed with Handy Manny.  So much so that we have seen the one season Netflix has about 1,000,000,000 times.  (Ok, so not that many times, but it feels like it.  We go through the whole season in about a week, maybe a week and a half.)  It is one of the few things that will get him to sit still, especially while I try to clean...

Wyler loves Toddler Story Time at the library.

This is how I have been finding his room after nap time every day for the past two weeks.
Wyler discovered that a folding chair, pushed against the wall, made for a fun game of sliding through the hole in the back.
The boys have become best friends.  It is so fun to watch them play and interact together.  I can't wait to watch them as they get older.

Wyler sharing his water.

Zach is still busy with John Deere.  As a matter of fact, right now he is in the Phoenix area for a 4 day training.  I hate having him gone.  When he isn't at work, he is working on trying to sell Protandim.  This product has been so good for him.  Not just the benefits of the pill either.  He seems to be happier, more confidant, and learning so much from this whole experience.

I am loving being at home with the kids, but not loving the house work :-/ .  I got my ears pierced a month ago.  One more month and I can start switching out earrings!! I got go go to a Taste of Home cooking show last Saturday.  It was way awesome! I am so excited to try cooking all the recipes I got to watch the chef cook up.  It all looked and smelled so yummy.  Keep an eye on my Cookies 'n Cows blog for those recipes.

Well, that is all that is new and exciting in our lives right now.  Hope all is well with you and yours!
