Crafty Chalkboard

The other day as I was doing some cleaning I found a lap size chalkboard/white board that I bought when I was trying to potty train Wyler that we forgot about for a couple months.  Similar to this one:  As soon as I saw it again I remembered several pins I saw on Pinterest that gave me a fun easy craft idea.

Here are the pins:
As soon as the boys were in bed for nap time I grabbed the calk board, my paints, stencils and brushes.  I mixed up a shade of blue I liked and painted the wooden frame.

After it was dry I tested out the four stencils I was trying to decide upon.  It took me a little while to figure out how to get the right amount of paint, and how to dab it properly so that it gave me a nice clear image.

I decided I liked the roses the best.  So I flipped the board over and started to stencil away.  I got to much paint on one flower, so it looked more like a blob.  When I tried to clean it off before it could dry it only smeared, so I left it before it could get worse.  After stenciling the blossom back over that spot I continued on.  As soon as the paint was dry I hung a picture hanger on the back, wrote that day's dinner menu on the board and hung it up.  I am pretty excited to have it.  I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Now I won't have to repeat myself over and over telling my family what's for dinner.  It will be posted out where they all can see it.  And if I don't keep up with the menu this board is great for all sorts of fun stuff.

Time Flies part 2

Well I ended up cutting the last post a little short... not easy to write with a baby and toddler calling for attention.
To finish off Wyler's birthday we went out to dinner with Grandmama Darla and Papa Theron.  It was a pretty good day.
We decided to do his birthday party on a weekend so that more family could be there.  We (Grandmama Darla and I) decided on a John Deere theme and set the date.  (Unfortunately Grandmama and Papa Hansen couldn't attend, but they were thought of and missed.)

I started this probably two weeks ago, but never got to finishing it till now because of internet issues.  So here we go, time to finish.

So Saturday August 24 we met my parents, Heber, and Nina at the park and had lunch.  Afterwards we cambe back to our place and visited for a while.  It was sooo good to see and talk to my mom.  After the 42 days in the hospital, not being able to see her, except for Skype, it was really nice.

Now for all the party pictures...

The next day Grandmama and Pap Hansen came over for a visit and some birthday cake.  So all together Wyler had 3 birthday "parties".
